Get around Glasgow with VOI e-bikes

Posted 2 weeks ago

1,000 e-bikes can be found at stands across the city

From November 2025, VOI are Glasgow's new supplier for bike hire. They replace nextbike and will operate initially from existing nextbike stations. All their bikes are e-bikes.

As an introductionary offer,

  • all riders can get their first 15-minute ride for free by entering the code SCOTLAND in the app.
  • no unlocking fee, for three months to the end of January 2026, with the pay-as-you-go tariff of £0.16 per minute
  • Cost for half an hour bike use £2.99

VOI is working to set up a student discount which will be available with subscriptions. We continue to explore ways of co-operation to give our staff and students the opportunity to benefit from their service.

Find out how to use the scheme and more about VOI on their web page.

Cycle routes and parks

There are great cycle routes in and around Glasgow, as well as beautiful parks to explore.

The People Make Glasgow website has route suggestions, as does Glasgow City Council and Visit Scotland. There are also routes on apps like Strava and MapMyRide.

Check out our Explore Glasgow's Parks article too for suggested trips to parks from the residences!
